The Impact of Climate Change Regulation on Environmental Audits- "Climate change regulation has significantly expanded the universe of considerations in environmental auditing. In order to meet minimum standards for environmental audits, environmental auditors will need to include within their repertoire a new set of skills which will include the identification, quantification, and verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) sources and potentially the registration of carbon credits. Because the reduction of GHG emissions may become monetized and incorporated into commercial transactions, environmental auditors will assume an even more critical role in the environmental audit process. This presentation will help attendees understand the legal and regulatory structure of this process."-Keith Casto, Shook, Hardy, & Bacon

Risk Managers are from Mars, EHS Professionals are from Venus-The EHS Professionals' Role in ERM-"The best EHS professionals understand risk management, and the best risk managers understand EHS. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is essentially the marriage of the two disciplines as it requires the risk and EHS managers to collaborate in identifying and controlling a broad array of risk exposures in support of the organization's strategic plan and mission. EHS professionals must fully understand their roles in enterprise risk management and traditional risk management. If an EHS professional wants an integral role in supporting his or her organization's mission, he or she must demonstrate the value of efforts beyond compliance. Enterprise risk management can provide this framework through the use of risk assessments and risk-based budgeting tools that consider a broad range of risks."-Erike Young, University of California Office of the President
11:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Sustainability Audit Procedures at the Organizational Level: An Opportunity for Environmental Auditors-"Corporations are facing increasing demands from stakeholders for third party certification of their socially and environmentally responsible practices. Consumers, investors, supply chain partners and shareholder activists are asking for audit procedures that measure "sustainability" commitment, practices, reporting and performance. This presentation will explore a ne too that promises to provide such a process that will be administered by Underwriter's Laboratories, and independent, global certification agency. understand the opportunities that will be presented to environmental auditors as Sustainability Quotient, this new program, and set of standards gains traction in the marketplace."
