A requirement in the Professional Program in Social Responsibility Reporting

Study the principles and methodology of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting according to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. Gain insight to key benefits of sustainable corporate citizenship practices and learn to articulate and communicate them professionally to stakeholders. Examine real-life case studies and sample reports, and practice hands-on exercises in evaluating quality of report content. Learn the systematic report development process which includes research, prepare, connect, define, monitor, and report on sustainable initiatives information.

With more emphasis being placed on corporate transparency, Corporate Social/Sustainability Responsibility (CSR) reporting is an essential and highly effective tool in identifying and communicating corporate commitment to social and sustainability concerns to both internal and external stakeholders. You learn to identify and communicate professionally the key benefits of sustainable corporate practices to stakeholders. You review case studies, examine sample reports, participate in hands-on group exercises and class discussion. At the end this class, you learn CSR principles and methods, become proficient in evaluating and developing a high quality sustainability report.

This course is designed for business managers, professionals, sustainability managers, consultants, non-profit agencies, government agencies, corporate stakeholders, investors and individuals who are interested in learning the principles GRI standards, developing a high quality Corporate Social Responsibility Report, identifying and professionally communicating key benefits of corporate social/sustainable responsibilities to target audiences.

Prerequisites: Business writing skills and research experience is recommended.

Gary Lucks, J.D., CPEA, is a principal attorney and scientist with Beyond Compliance LLC, where he advises clients on multimedia environmental management systems (EMS) and environmental compliance. Lucks specializes in environmental compliance auditing, compliance management systems (CMS), compliance counseling, EMS, environmental training, environmental permitting, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and reduction, and pollution prevention.
